A Heart That Rejoices
August 31, 2026
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”Psalm 118:24 NIV
Choosing joy as an act of faith regardless of today’s circumstances.
Lord of Every Day,
Today is Your gift.
Before I accomplish anything. Before I solve a single problem. Before I know what this day will bring.
It already belongs to You.
Yet I confess that I sometimes begin the day with worry instead of worship.I focus on my schedule before Your presence.I allow tomorrow’s concerns to steal today’s joy.
But Your Word speaks of שָׂמַח (śāmaḥ).
To rejoice. To delight. To experience joy that rises from confidence in You.
Teach me to שָׂמַח (śāmaḥ).
Not because every circumstance is easy. Not because every prayer has already been answered. But because You remain faithful.
When disappointments come today, remind me that You are still good. When unexpected blessings appear, give me a grateful heart. When ordinary moments pass by, help me recognize Your fingerprints within them.
Let joy become my response to Your presence, not merely my reaction to favorable circumstances.
May I live this day as a gift entrusted to me.
And may those who encounter me see not simply happiness, but the deep joy that comes from walking with You.
Amen.
To rejoice. To be glad. To delight.
In Scripture, śāmaḥ describes a deep joy that flows from God’s faithfulness. It is more than an emotion. It is the glad response of a heart that recognizes God’s presence and His goodness in every season.
