What I Place Before You

September 24, 2026

““Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God. This is your true and proper worship.””Romans 12:1 NIV
Prayer Focus

Placing our whole lives before God instead of surrendering only what feels manageable.

Prayer

Merciful God,

Once something has been brought into the light, I must decide what to do with it.

I can acknowledge a fear and still allow it to lead me.I can recognize a wound and continue organizing my life around it.I can confess a pattern while quietly reserving the right to return to it.

Awareness alone does not become transformation.

Your Word calls me to παρίστημι (paristēmi).

To present. To place at Your disposal. To offer myself willingly before You.

So I bring You more than my intentions.

I bring You my body with its needs and limitations.

I bring You my thoughts, including those I struggle to quiet.

I bring You my desires, even when they compete with what I know is faithful.

I bring You the parts of my story I would rather control.

Receive all of me.

Surrender is difficult because I want to know what You will do with what I release.

I want assurance that obedience will not cost too much.

But Paul places this invitation within the view of Your mercy.

I do not offer myself to a God who is careless with me.

I place my life before the One whose mercy has already met me.

Teach me that surrender is not self-erasure. It is the return of my whole self to the One who knows how it was meant to live.

Take what has ruled me and place it under Your wisdom.

Take what has wounded me and place it within Your care.

Take what is good within me and place it in service to Your purposes.

Today, let worship become more than words.

Here is my life, Lord.

I place it before You.

Amen.

Greek Word Highlight
παρίστημιparistēmi

To present, offer, place before someone, or make available for service.

In Romans 12:1, παρίστημι (paristēmi) describes the deliberate offering of one’s whole embodied life to God. Christian surrender is not contempt for the self or the disappearance of personal identity. It is the willing placement of everything we are under God’s mercy and direction. Worship becomes a way of living when our bodies, choices, desires, and gifts are made available to Him.
