Equipped in More Than One Way

“See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills.”Exodus 31:2 to 3 NIV
Recognizing the varied gifts, experiences, skills, and relationships through which God prepares us to serve.
God Who Equips,
When I think about being called, I sometimes look for a single extraordinary gift.
I expect spiritual readiness to feel dramatic.
But when You called Bezalel, You equipped him for מְלָאכָה (melakhah).
Work.Craftsmanship.Skilled service that turned vision into something tangible.
Your Spirit was present in his creativity, knowledge, precision, and practiced ability.
Teach me to recognize the many ways You prepare a person.
Some gifts arrived naturally.
Others were developed through study, repetition, correction, and failure.
Some wisdom came through mentors.
Some came through difficult seasons I would not have chosen.
Some abilities are still waiting to be strengthened through practice.
Keep me from dismissing practical skill as less spiritual than visible ministry.
Planning can serve You.
Building can serve You.
Teaching, repairing, organizing, designing, caring, leading, and solving problems can all become expressions of holy service.
Show me what You have already placed within my hands.
Reveal the experiences I once considered unrelated but now need for this assignment.
Lead me toward people whose gifts complement my limitations.
And where I am not yet prepared, give me humility to learn.
Being called does not mean I already know how to do everything.
Preparation can be part of obedience.
Help me steward my gifts without comparing them to someone else’s.
May Your Spirit work through both what comes easily and what I must patiently develop.
Equip me for the work You have actually given me, not the work I imagine would make me more important.
Amen.
Work, craftsmanship, skilled labor, or a task carried out with purpose.
In Exodus 31, מְלָאכָה (melakhah) describes the skilled work required to build the tabernacle. Bezalel’s craftsmanship was empowered by God’s Spirit, showing that divine equipping includes practical, creative, intellectual, and technical ability. Calling is not limited to public ministry. God prepares people through gifts, training, experience, collaboration, and disciplined practice for work that serves His purposes.
