Light for the Next Step

God of the Unfolding Path,

I want to know where I am going.

I want to see how the decision will turn out, what the journey will require, and whether the road ahead will lead where I hope.

But You do not always illuminate the entire path.

Your Word is called a נֵר (ner).

A lamp.

Not a floodlight revealing every mile ahead, but a light held close enough to show where my foot should land next.

I confess that I sometimes call it waiting when I am actually refusing to move without certainty.

I ask You for the complete plan when You have already made the next step clear.

Teach me to recognize the difference between wisdom and fear.

Wisdom listens carefully.Fear keeps asking questions after direction has come.

If there is something I need to know, reveal it.

If there is counsel I need to seek, lead me toward it.

But if the next step is already visible, give me the courage to take it without demanding answers You have not promised.

Keep me from despising small acts of obedience.

One conversation may not resolve everything.One decision may not complete the journey.One step may not feel significant.

Still, a faithful life is often formed through ordinary steps taken in the light You provide.

Let Your Word steady my feet today.

I do not need to see the entire road if I can see where You are asking me to walk now.

Give me light for this step.

And when tomorrow comes, meet me there with light again.
