Daily Prayer · Day 140

Beyond Knowing the Facts

September 10, 2026

““For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.””Proverbs 2:6 NIV
Prayer Focus

Seeking the understanding to interpret information with wisdom.

Prayer

God of Wisdom,

I have access to more information than I can fully absorb.

I can gather facts, compare opinions, study possibilities, and still remain uncertain about what those things mean.

Information can tell me what is happening.

It cannot always tell me what matters most.

Your Word speaks of תְּבוּנָה (tevunah).

Understanding.Insight.The ability to perceive how things fit together.

I need more than another answer.

I need the wisdom to recognize which questions deserve my attention.

Help me see beneath the surface of what is presented to me.

Show me the difference between what is impressive and what is important.

Between what is possible and what is wise.

Between a temporary solution and a faithful direction.

When I am overwhelmed by details, help me identify the truth that brings them into focus.

When several choices appear equally reasonable, reveal the values each one requires me to honor or neglect.

When I do not understand, keep me curious enough to learn and humble enough to admit what I do not know.

Protect me from using information to avoid dependence on You.

I sometimes keep researching because knowledge feels safer than decision. I gather more when what I truly need is the courage to act upon what has already become clear.

Give me תְּבוּנָה (tevunah).

Let understanding shape not only what I think, but also how I live.

Teach me to interpret what I know through Your character, Your Word, and the life of Christ.

May wisdom bring order to what feels scattered and direction to what remains uncertain.

Amen.

Hebrew Word Highlight
תְּבוּנָהtevunah

Understanding, insight, or the ability to discern how things relate.

In Proverbs, תְּבוּנָה (tevunah) is more than possessing facts. It is the God-given capacity to interpret reality wisely and recognize what faithful living requires. Knowledge may provide the pieces, but understanding helps us see how they fit together. Biblical discernment asks not only, “What do I know?” but also, “What does this truth require of me?”
